On-farm readers are normally lightweight handheld smart readers (Reader and PDA combined). Our rugged and totally accurate handheld readers automatically activate the EID chips embedded in the ear tags of sheep. The data in the tag (i.e. the individual sheep number) is then read, an event such as a movement off the farm is recorded and the data is transferred to the secure database.
Data is transferred to the central database either by docking the reader to a home computer through which the data is transferred to the central database or for direct transmission by using a reader with GPRS connectivity that will transfer data by a cellular (mobile) link.
For large units, panel race readers and automatic weigher/drafters are also available. Specialist panel and industrial readers are more likely to be used in livestock auctions and abattoirs but these read, collect and transfer data in exactly the same way as the handheld readers do.
The HHR 3000 Pro V2 Handheld Reader is an easy to operate Handheld Reader for ISO 11784/11785 transponders. It is designed for on-farm use under ‘real life’ conditions and combines great reading performance and enhanced computer features with ease of operation.
